Kilmartin Archaeology
As part of a new year long project working with the School of History, Classics & Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh, we spent a short time with the students during their summer fieldwork in Kilmartin in the West of Scotland. The work, part of Scotland’s Rock Art Project, includes locating, (sometimes using limited, ancient or incorrect records) uncovering, cleaning and recording the Neolithic and Bronze Age markings.
This was our first shoot on this project and a great opportunity to get to know some of the students that we would be following through their studies during the course of the year. Aided by Historic Environment Scotland we were able to visit a number of the sites the students were working with and navigate the sometime complex relationships with the local landowners to capture some close-up footage of the students working on the Rock Art and some aerials overhead, to convey the real scale and beauty of these designs.
This is short clip we put together which went out on the School’s social channels after the field trip to give a flavour of some of the content we captured during the trip, the majority of which will form part of the final films in the summer of 2020.
